Low back pain Yoga and Low Back Health

Saturday, Jan 27
3:00 - 4:30 pm

Take this 10-second quiz! Do you...

  • Practice yoga because you have or have had low back pain?
  • Avoid yoga for the very same reason?
  • Have a back ailment such as osteopenia, osteoporosis, or herniated discs, and want to be sure that you practice yoga safely?
  • Have a healthy lower back and want to keep it that way?

If you answered "yes" to any of these questions, then join Kathleen Conlon Hinge, Director of Yoga Shivaya and 500-hour certified yoga teacher, and Lawrence Ruck, DC, Certified Chiropractic Sports Practitioner, for a workshop on yoga and the health of your lower back. In a format that combines instruction and practice, you will:

  • Learn basic lower-back anatomy, common causes of pain, and posture "Do's and Don'ts."
  • Practice a sequence of postures and exercises that reduce pain and promote strength.
  • Learn posture and exercise options that are customized for your body.
  • Practice and receive coaching from an experienced yoga instructor and an experienced chiropractor to be sure you're "doing it right."
  • Leave with a sequence of exercises that you can do daily to promote your ongoing lower back health.

This workshop is open to all levels of yoga experience. Please bring a yoga mat (if you have one, otherwise you may borrow one of ours), and a notebook and pen/pencil to record your insights.

Cost is $30 if you register online; $40 at the door. Use the button below to reserve your space using PayPal or major credit card:

Relax, Restore and Receive:reiki symbol
Reiki and Restorative Yoga

Sunday, Dec 10
1:30 - 3:30 pm

Come and experience a unique combination of Restorative Yoga & Reiki. Breathe and let go into cushions and props that are positioned to support the body in releasing tension and stress. As you relax, you’ll be offered Reiki, a gentle, hands-on technique that channels life force energy through the subtle body to promote deep relaxation, balance and well-being. This practice encourages the nervous system to quiet and allows for healing on a physical and emotional level.

I enjoyed it immensely.  I was so grateful for the safe space that was created and for the wonderfully calm and peaceful energy that filled the room.  It was the most perfect way to spend an afternoon.

Cost is $45. Online registration is now closed, but there may still be a few spots left! Email Jody directly to ask if there's room for you.

Jody Raso, is a Social Worker, Reiki Master and Certified Yoga Instructor. She created this class after completing Restorative Yoga Teacher Training in 2011. The combination of both the healing practices of Restorative Yoga and Reiki allows the body and mind to quiet encouraging balance in the nervous system. This workshop is a culmination of Jody's 20 years' experience in the healing arts and true reflection of her beliefs as a therapist, teacher and Reiki Practitioner. www.JodyRaso.com
